Sunday, June 21, 2009

LADY LESHURR IS THE HOTTEST THING IN THE UNDERGROUND UK HIP-HOP SCENE RIGHT NOW, PLUS SHE'S DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!! I DONT ENDORSE JUST ANY ARTIST EITHER SO CHECK HER OUT!!

Melesha O’ggaro was a mere 11 years old when she started to write lyrics after being inspired by mc’s in the then booming UK Garage scene. A born performer and natural lyricist she took too the underground circuit, and whilst still at school, at age 16 she released her first mixtape titled ‘Needle in a Haystack’, a project that she managed and funded herself, from the recording to the advertising, distribution and sales. Adopting the stage name Lady Leshurr, she has performed all over the UK from local rap battles to the more prestigious Sidewinder. In 2007 she entered and won ‘UK Best Unsigned Female’, where she battled it out with various urban acts across the UK. Her colourful performances, thought provoking lyrics and sheer stage ‘energy’ blew away the competition and in August 2008 she was signed to UK Independent label Colourful State the home of Grime legend ‘Lowdeep’.

Having just released her free mixtape ‘The Last Second’, the 25-track feature clearly demonstrates her versatility in the urban music genre. A Mixture of RnB, Hip-Hop, Grime and Bashment tracks, and including her much hyped ‘A Millie’ Freestyle; it’s already spreading through the Internet like wild fire and can be downloaded for free at www.myspace.com/ladyleshurr. Saturday, June 20, 2009

Mayor Sheila Dixon of Baltimore, Maryland makes history signing the first "Proclamation Document" honoring June as National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month for the City of Baltimore and its Citizens. Celtics and Lakers are the bookends of the 25-year history of The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America, 1984-2009.
Baltimore, Md. (PRWEB) June 17, 2009 -- The hoops and hip-hop culture fusion era born in 1984 is celebrating its 25th Anniversary (1984-2009). To honor the historical 25th Anniversary of the sports-and-music cultural celebration June 2009 was selected as the first National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month (www.NBHHCM.org).
Mayor Sheila Dixon (D) of Baltimore, Maryland made history by signing the first "Proclamation Document" honoring June as National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month for the City of Baltimore and its Citzens (http://www.nbhhcm.org/proclamation.pdf).
NBHHCM founder Derrick E. Vaughan says, "Its an honor and a priviledge to have this Proclamation document for the past, present, and future individuals who have been and will be influenced by the fusion of hoops and hip-hop. The recognition is historic for this generation."
Vaughan also says, "I hope that other urban cities around the country will join Baltimore and sign similar "Proclamation Documents" that honor June as NBHHCM for its citizens. NBHHCM is for all of America."
NBHHCM will be a non-profit organization that promotes the history, legacy, and future of the hoops and hip-hop culture fusion in America and around the world. The National headquaters for NBHHCM will be located in Baltimore.

Monday June 1, 2009 there was a National Press Conference/Reception announcing the official "Tip-Off" of National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month in Downtown Baltimore.
Local Baltimore rap-artists B-Morsell aka the Dunkadelic MC wrote and performed at the press conference the first rap song dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the hoops and hip-hop culture. The song is titled Dunkadelic TV Rap (http://www.nbhhcm.org/about.html).
The song has a cool and hip beat with a catchy line chorus "If ballin' is what you love, what you want, what you need and if rap is what you eat, what you sleep, what you breathe than Dunkadelic TV is where you need to be."
Vaughan also states, "June is the perfect month for rappers to release songs for the Summer. I hope to see more songs dedicted to the hoops and hip-hop culture in the
future."
There was also a breakdance performance by local break dancers Raw Ned & Nitrus. A special graffiti art canvas piece by local artists Butchie Mears was also unveiled. The art piece was dedicated to the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture.
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers 4 NBA Championships in 1984, 1985 and 2008, 2009 are the 4 bookend years that connect the 25-year history of The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America, 1984-2009.
Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, along with Michael Jordan were ushering a new era in 1984 that has evolved into a world-wide spectacle that is now dominated by a group of players that have grown-up entirely on the hoops and hip-hop culture in America. Now that's Dunkadelic!
